Gurpreet Dhaliwal's Biography
Dr. Gurpreet Dhaliwal is considered to be one of the most skilful diagnosticians and clinician educators in the U.S. today.
Gurpreet studies how doctors think – how they diagnose, how they make treatment decisions, how they develop expertise – and why all this matters with regards to decision-making in the wider world. He is also a leading speaker on the future of data and computers in the field of medicine. Gurpreet’s academic interests are the cognitive processes underlying diagnostic reasoning and clinical-problem solving and the study of diagnostic expertise.
Gurpreet is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California San Francisco. He is also the site director of the internal medicine clerkships at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, where he teaches medical students and residents in the emergency department, urgent care clinic, inpatient wards, and outpatient clinic.
An elected member of the Academy of Medical Educators, Gurpreet is the recipient of many awards for his teaching. The New York Times said, “To observe him at work is like watching Steven Spielberg tackle a script or Rory McIlroy a golf course.”
