Stephen Bayley in celebration of Ugliness
Stephen Bayley, Britains top commentator and speaker on art, design and architecture, wrote a brilliantly contrarian article in the Telegraph recently on the virtues of ugliness. With his characteristic verbal flair, he declares beauty a “conformist conspiracy”, the beautiful as “flawlessly dull” and ugliness as “fascinating, full of variety and a stimulating challenge”. This makes me feel a lot better.
