Susie Wolff's Biography
Susie Wolff, aka “the fastest woman in the world”, is a Scottish racing driver, and is known for being the most successful female racing driver in Europe. She will be stepping up to the position of Official Test Driver for Williams Martini Racing for the 2015 Formula One season.
For seven years, Susie raced for Mercedes-Benz in the most popular touring car championship in the world and was the only female driver in nearly twenty seasons to gain points in the DTM. After 73 races and 7 seasons with Mercedes-Benz in the DTM Susie decided to look for new challenges and focus on her goal of driving a F1 car.
In 2012 Susie was appointed development driver for the Williams F1 Team. In July 2013, Susie made her first appearance in a full test at the Formula One Young Driver Test, and became the first female to take part in a timed F1 session since 1992. Susie impressed as she finished just over two seconds behind the World Champion in the timesheets and demonstrated that women can play a role at the highest level of motorsport.
As a result of Susie’s positive effect and inspiration she became an ambassador for the FIA Women in Motorsport. The ambassadors’ mission is to spread the messages and actions of the commission, with the particular emphasis on demonstrating how to succeed in all areas of the sport, while also playing a part in driving all important safety messages.
Susie is also an ambassador for the Wings for Life Foundation that has set the ultimate goal to make spinal cord injury curable.
