Biography
Rupert Merson is a leading authority on owner-managed entrepreneurial businesses and the problems they confront as they seek to grow. He is a skilled consultant and facilitator who has worked for clients on a broad range of issues including formation, governance, strategy, ownership, remuneration, succession, turnaround and organisation development.
Rupert has led business education programmes on growth and entrepreneurship for clients in many sectors in the UK, South East Asia, South America and the Middle East and worked extensively with entrepreneurs, family businesses and professional partnerships. Rupert sits on the SME Council of the CBI.
As Adjunct Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Rupert teaches courses on the management of the growing business and new venture development. He has also taught at INSEAD, CEIBS and ISB. He has taught for 15 years at London Business School.
As an advisor, he was a partner in BDO Stoy Hayward in London from 1993 to 2009. He now leads his own firm of advisers.
Rupert publishes frequently in the national press on a broad range of business topics. He has published four books on the key roles in the growing business, and co-authored a fifth book on the family business. His sixth book, “Rules are Not Enough” (2010), focused on corporate governance. His latest book is titled “Guide to Managing Growth” (2011).
