Prince Kofi Amoabeng's Biography
Prince Kofi Amoabeng is the Managing Director and CEO of UT Bank Ghana and the UT Group. He and his partner, Joseph Nsonamoah (Chairman of the UT Board), started the UT Bank (formerly UT Financial Services) in 1997 in a one-room office in Accra with a staff of four. Today UT is a Holdings company with eight subsidiaries, including a Bank, a Life Insurance Company, a Logistics company and a Properties Company with a staff strength of over 1000 people. It has 26 bank branches in Ghana and others in Nigeria, Germany and South Africa.
From 1992 to 2003, Mr Amoabeng lectured at the Ghana Stock Exchange. He has extensive experience in building businesses through developing excellent customer relations, drawing up strategic and tactical business plans and nurturing strategic partnerships. His achievements include Marketing Man of the Year 2006, Ghana’s Most Respected CEO (2009 and 2010), and he was also awarded with National Honours for an Order of the Star of the Volta – Officer’s Division, presented by the President of Ghana in 2008.
Mr Amoabeng is one of two Ghanaians who featured in Moky Makura’s Africa’s Greatest Entrepreneurs (2009), which profiles 16 of Africa’s top entrepreneurs. He was also named Overall Best Entrepreneur in the Maiden Ghana Entrepreneurs Award (2011).
