Peter Jones's Biography
Peter Jones CBE is a British entrepreneur, mentor, businessman, television personality and philanthropist with more than 40 years of experience in business and entrepreneurship. As a keynote speaker, he is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and dreams. He uses his speaking engagements as an opportunity to motivate and inspire others to be the best version of themselves, be more confident and find their voice to achieve their goals.
He founded Phones International Group, a mobile and wireless communication solutions provider, in 1998 and later sold part of it to Wireless Logic in 2011. Peter has always had a fundamental interest in innovation and communication, and has investments in over 100 businesses in television, mobile phone, media, leisure, retail and property sectors, including Wonderland magazine, Expansys, Accentuate and Tiny Box.
He is the owner and Chief Executive of Jessops UK, which he bought in 2013 and the Ambition Ambassador for Sage Group. He owns Peter Jones TV, a television production company producing his highly successful show Tycoon, the spinoff Tycoon in School and co-produces American Inventor. He became the face of BT Business in 2008.
Peter is a revered businessman and well-known television personality, having appeared on many shows, including the concept show that he sold to The American Broadcasting Company American Inventor, nineteen seasons and counting of the BBC’s acclaimed Dragons Den, Top Gear Hustle, and James Corden’s World Cup Live.
He founded the Peter Jones Foundation to encourage, educate and empower young people in Britain to achieve their potential by providing opportunities and support. He also founded the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy in 2008, that has several campuses across the UK and provides colleges with entrepreneurship programs and toolkits on creating and managing successful enterprises.
He was appointed CBE in 2009 for services to entrepreneurship, business and young people. In 2006, the Royal College of Arms recognised him as someone who has benefited the community and invited him to design a coat of arms. He settled on a design that depicts aspects of his life, including four dragons, a lightning bolt, a tennis ball, a series of symbolic dots and the Latin inscription “Make your dreams reality.”
