Peter Bofinger's Biography
Prof Dr. Peter Bofinger was a member of the independent German Council of Economic Experts (“die 5 Wirtschaftsweisen”) for fifteen years and is a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. He is also Professor for Monetary Policy and International Economics at the University of Würtzburg.
Professor Bofinger was previously an economist at the Bundesbank (1987-90) and a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund (1987 & 1991). He was Head of Department at the Economics Faculty at the University of Würzburg from 1997-99, and he served as the university’s Vice-President from 2003-04. He is a research fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and has worked as an advisor for various European and international institutions.
Bofinger has written many books and articles on economics and monetary economics. His main fields of research are monetary and exchange rate economics, financial markets and economic reforms in developed and emerging market economies.
