Penny Mordaunt has been the Conservative Member of Parliament for Portsmouth North since 2010. During that time she has held numerous ministerial roles, most recently as the first female Secretary of State for Defence.
She has also held the positions of Minister for Women and Equalities and Secretary of State for International Development, as well as also being the UK Governor of the World Bank and the only female MP who is a Royal Naval Reservist.
Prior to entering Parliament in 2010 Penny was a Director for the charity Diabetes UK, the Head of Foreign Press for the George W Bush Victory 2000 Campaign, the founder of Media Intelligence Partners, a communications agency and the Head of Broadcasting for the Conservative Party.
In 2018 she was the first Cabinet Minister to use sign language to perform a speech on the front benches when announcing an upcoming Disability Conference.
