Paul Wood's Biography
Following life-changing injuries sustained on operational service with a Royal Marines surveillance and reconnaissance unit, including the partial loss of a limb, an internal organ and a traumatic brain injury, Paul underwent 20 hours of surgery, spent 28 days in a coma, two months on a traumatic care unit, and the next 18 months in medical care. Despite these life-changing injuries, Paul made an early decision not to be defined by his disabilities. This common thread has influenced his choices over the following years.
In addition to leading a number of successful security and performance development businesses, Paul is a visiting Lecturer at Universities, has led large-scale organisational change projects for UK government agencies, all while building a reputation as a speaker. His contagious passion for improving performance and his captivating speaking abilities have resulted in him being invited to speak and coach across the globe. He can deliver a range of performance-enhancing topics in different forms; varying from after-dinner speaking, delivering motivational presentations and leading engaging talks on areas related to the development of high-performing teams and individuals. In addition to introducing audiences to the System of T.E.A.M.S ©, a model he designed as the founder of the leadership consultancy GCK Performance, Paul advises individuals and organisations on how to develop resilience, whether that be across the operational systems and structures of blue-chip businesses or within individuals.
