Omid Djalili's Biography
Omid Djalili is an Iranian-British comedian, actor, writer and television presenter. He is one of the UK’s most well-known personalities whose stand-up performances are always a hit with audiences. As a speaker, he is one of the UK’s most original and distinctive performers, sought-after for his wit and humour, which has enthralled and entertained global audiences for over three decades.
Since 2020, Omid has been the host of Winning Combination, the ITV quiz game show where contestants compete to win a grand prize, and he is poised to host Tonight with Omid, a BBC chat show that will air in English and Farsi on BBC Persia. He has been a guest panellist on shows such as Insert Name Here, Question Time, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, and Would I Lie To You? He previously hosted The Omid Djalili Show and was a guest presenter on Have I Got News for You.
Omid is perhaps most known for the comedic work that has seen him tour various countries, including Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, Canada and Australia. He has released three stand-up DVD’s Tour of Duty (2012), Live in London (2009), and No Agenda (2007) and his comedy is highly savoured in the United States, resulting in an HBO special.
As one of the UK’s top comedians, Omid has been featured in various media. His acting portfolio includes television roles in His Dark Materials, The Letter for the King, Celebrity Mastermind, Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Headcases, Live at the Apollo and Relic Hunter. As a film actor, he has appeared in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Shaun the Sheep Movie, Sex and the City 2, The Love Guru, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and Notting Hill. Omid also lent his voice to the Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand video games.
