Ola Rosling's Biography

Ola Rosling is a leader in promoting a fact-based world view to work against personal misconceptions, outdated facts and news bias. He is the son of the renowned data guru Hans Rosling,

Ola was a Product Manager for Google Public Data from 2007 to 2010. He led the development and integration of Official Statistics into Google Search results, making them easier to find.

Ola is currently serving as CEO of the Gapminder Foundation, a non-profit venture which he founded together with his father Hans and his wife Anna in 2005. Gapminder promotes sustainable global development and achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by increased use and understanding of statistics and other information about social, economic and environmental development at local, national and global levels.

Ola was instrumental in the development of the Trendalyzer software at Gapminder, which was later acquired by Google in 2007. Playing a fundamental role in the presentation of the Rosling lectures, Trendalyzer seeks to unveil the beauty of statistical time series by converting boring numbers into enjoyable, animated and interactive graphics. Ola also initiated the Ignorance Project in 2013, which is measuring public lack of knowledge about global facts and identifying the most neglected statistics.

In 2018, he co-authored the best selling book ‘Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World–and Why Things Are Better Than You Think”

Of the book, Bill Gates said “One of the most important books I’ve ever read―an indispensable guide to thinking clearly about the world.”
