Biography
Murat Ucer is an economist with 15 years’ expertise in macroeconomic and financial analysis, particularly in emerging markets. He is a consultant to commercial banks, multinational corporations and public sector organisations, and gives training programs and seminars on the Turkish as well as global macroeconomic developments.
Murat is currently Global Source Partner’s consultant in Turkey, co-founder of Turkey Data Monitor, and a senior lecturer at Koç University in Turkey. He is also a frequent lecturer at the World Bank Institute. He has held senior advisor positions in the Treasury and the Central Bank of Turkey.
Previously, Murat worked in the International Monetary Fund for six years, contributing to financial programming and fiscal and budget analysis in a number of countries in Europe and Africa. He was also Senior Economist at Credit Suisse providing the bank with research and sovereign risk analysis for emerging markets. Murat also worked at the prestigious Institute of International Finance (Washington, DC) covering a number of developing countries.
Murat has authored several articles on the Turkish economy and current economic issues, including a book on the 2001 Turkish financial crisis.
