Meik Wiking's Biography
Meik Wiking is a keynote speaker who serves as the CEO of The Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. Meik is also a Research Associate for Denmark at the World Database of Happiness and Founding member of The Latin American Network for Wellbeing and Quality of Life Policies. He holds a degree in business and political science and has previously worked for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vilstrup Research and as a director for the think tank Monday Morning.
Meik Wiking has written several books and reports on happiness, subjective well-being and quality of life. His most recent is “The Little Book Of Hygge: the Danish way to live well” (Penguin 2016). Here he explores the Danish concept of hygge (usually translated roughly as “the art of creating intimacy” to “cosiness of the soul”), arguing that it is the secret ingredient that has made the Danes top the UN World Happiness Report 4 out of 5 times since its launch in 2012.
