Martha Swift's Biography
Martha Swift is the CEO and co-founder of Primrose Bakery. Martha started her journey setting up with her friend in a home kitchen in Primrose Hill, with no cooking or business experience. Seeing a gap in the market for cupcakes and cakes that both looked and tasted amazing, they went from supplying a local deli and local private customers to Selfridges Food Hall, Liberty and Fortnum and Mason within 3 years. Since then, Martha has grown the Primrose Bakery brand into one of London’s most renowned and widely loved cake shops.
15 years, 3 shops, 5 bestselling books and 91 thousand Instagram followers later (and growing), Martha continues to lead the way as an inspiring, ambitious and tirelessly committed entrepreneur who’s built an immense cult brand with a dedicated following. The Primrose Bakery cookbooks have sold well over half a million copies worldwide.
With nearly 2 decades of wisdom and insight, Martha can share her valuable lessons on starting a business from scratch, being a woman in business, managing teams, creating products, staying ahead of the competition, building a brand, dealing with the challenges facing modern retail today and more. Her insight has been incredibly received, delivering talks at Virgin Start Up, The Guardian, Maven’s Female Founders, Soho House, The Dots, QVC and BBC Radio 4’s Today programme as well as an appearance on Bloomberg TV in Hong Kong, BBC Breakfast and The Apprentice.
