Laura Davies's Biography
Dame Laura Davies is a professional golfer, a commentator and TV expert analyst. She is the former World Number 1, the winner of 80 tournaments worldwide including 4 Major Championships. She was made a Dame Commander of the order of the British Empire in 2014.
Laura burst onto the golfing stage in 1987 by winning the biggest tournament in women’s golf, the US Open. Legendary for her swashbuckling style, long hitting and go for broke attitude, she went on to amass a prolific 80 titles worldwide, including four major championships.
She has also made 12 appearances in the Solheim Cup representing England and Europe. Known for playing the game with a smile on her face and having fun competing against the very best players, Laura’s popularity, achievements and legendary status in golf was given worldwide recognition with her induction into The World Golf Hall Of Fame in 2015. As a staunch patriot, one of the proudest moments of her career came in 2014 when she was made a Dame Commander of the order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth 11 for her services to the game of golf.
While continuing to play in tournaments all around the world all be it with a reduced schedule, more recently Laura has been in demand for TV commentary as an expert analyst, working for the BBC and Sky Sports on their golf coverage of premier events, including the Men’s British Open and the Women’s Solheim Cup.
