Kirby Ferguson's Biography
Kirby Ferguson is a writer, director and producer who has created dozens of widely viewed comedic short films, including the web series, “Everything is a Remix“. The series is based on his view that creativity comes not from innate genius but as a patchwork remix born from the ideas of others – a theme he explored in his popular TED Global talk in 2012 (1 million views and counting).
Kirby is a prolific comedy writer and has extensive knowledge of video production, executing almost all production roles for his shorts. In 2008 he wrote, directed, produced and edited the viral hit “Macs vs. PCs”, which clocked over 400,000 views. He is currently a writer and director for the comedy site GoodieBag.tv.
His recent online video series, “This Is Not a Conspiracy Theory”, explores politics and human behaviour in its most fascinating scenarios. His forty-five-minute presentation based on this series applies well to any and all realms of creativity. Kirby has spoken at TED, SXSW, The Festival of Dangerous Ideas, Google, Netflix, the GEL Conference, Creative Mornings NYC, The Cusp Conference, Media Evolution, The Creators Project, Campus Party Mexico City, Columbia University, NYU and more.
Kirby’s skill in both production and online promotion has earned him top featured positions on YouTube’s homepage, as well as Yahoo, Veoh, Revver, College Humor, Gizmodo and BoingBoing.
