Ken Matthews is a seasoned IT executive specialising in strategy and change implementations, assisting IT teams to create better business alignment, developing IT strategies for business outcomes and establishing and supporting IT governance.
Ken has developed over 25 years’ experience in IT, 15 of which were in the mining industry, and 20 years of change management. As the Global Chief Information Officer (CIO) of BHP Billiton from 2007 to 2010, Ken played a key role in the implementation of the company’s information strategy. Previous roles include Interim CIO Fortescue, Interim CIO InterOil, Global Head of NR Services, Wipro, CIO Transurban, CIO & GM Shared Services Newcrest and CIO & GM Shared Services SKILLED Group.
Ken has also held various senior technology and change roles in the petroleum, steel, and banking industries. His international experience spans Malaysia, Singapore the US as well as having worked in over 20 other countries. His business experience includes M&A, management realignments, business value audits, governance establishment, and working closely with executives and directors.
Ken is currently the Founder and Managing Director of CIO Advisory, a consultancy that aims to help current CIOs achieve IT’s full potential.
