Katherine Ryan's Biography
Katherine Ryan is a Canadian stand-up comedian, actress, writer and presenter who has gained prominence in the UK. As a speaker, she is sought-after for her ability to engage and entertain audiences while dissecting the intricacies of dating, mental health, and life.
In 2021, All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star invited Katherine to join the popular reality show as a host. She will also join the cast of Ready to Mingle as a presenter and is set to be a co-presenter on Joe and Katherine’s Bargain Holidays. Her witty and insightful comments have been a regular feature on British panel shows, including Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Would I Lie to You?, Just a Minute, Qi, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Have I Got News for You.
As a presenter, Katherine has appeared on How’d You Get So Rich? (UK), BBC Two’s Hair and co-hosted alongside Jimmy Carr in Your Face or Mine? Her acting roles include various shows such as Badults, Campus and Episodes. She also lent her talents as a creator, executive producer, writer and actress on the Netflix sitcom The Dutchess.

As one of Britain’s most engaging and sought-after stand-up comedians, Katherine has appeared on flagship programs like Live At The Apollo as a featured act and headliner and hosted a comedy tour titled Kathburn (2016). Her two Netflix specials, Katherine Ryan: In Trouble (2017) and Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room (2019), prove that she can hold her own against any comic opponent with skilful creativity.
Before pursuing a career in comedy, Katherine attended many open mic’s, crafting a standard comedic set, while serving as a waitress and then corporate trainer for Hooters across Canada. She also appeared as a dancer in MuchMusic’s electric Circus program.
Her work in comedy has earned her recognition, winning the Nivea Funny Women Award and being a runner-up for 2008’s Amused Moose Laugh-Off.
Katherine is not just a comedic genius. She also holds a degree in City Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University).
With a willingness to share personal stories about her life – good and bad – Katherine is a relatable public speaker who engages audiences with her charisma and quick wit.
