Kate Baucherel's Biography
Kate Baucherel is an author, speaker and emerging technology consultant with a focus on crypt assets and blockchain technology.
In a career spanning more than 30 years, Kate has held senior technical and financial roles in businesses across multiple sectors, leading several enterprises through their start-up and growth phases. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA CGMA). Her interest in technology was sparked in 1988 when working for an IBM business partner in Denver, back when the AS/400 was a cutting-edge piece of hardware and the World Wide Web didn’t exist. She teaches Masters courses in Digital Transformation, Emerging Technologies, FinTech and Blockchain and Cryptocurrency at Teesside University.
Her books include Getting Started with Cryptocurrency: An introduction to digital assets and blockchain (BCS Publishing 2024), Blockchain Hurricane: Origins, Applications and Future of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency (BEP/Harvard 2020), What’s Hot in Blockchain and Crypto (2020,2021) and science fiction including the SimCavalier series of cybercrime thrillers. She has spoken at events across the world and online, as keynote, panellist, mentor and chair, and regularly appears on BBC radio as a cryptocurrency expert.
Kate now works with clients from start-up to blue chip multinationals in the UK, Europe and around the world. She is a fluent French speaker and dual UK / French national. She holds a 3rd Dan black belt in karate and lives in the UK and France with her husband and daughters.
