Jonathan Haskel's Biography
Jonathan Haskel is Professor of Economics at Imperial College Business School. He has taught economics at global institutions such as the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, the Stern School of Business at New York University and the Australian National University. His primary research interests including productivity, innovation, intangible investment and growth.
Alongside his role, Jonathan advises governments and industries internationally. He was a member of the FCA Competition Decisions Committee and the Payment System Regulator Enforcement and Competition Decisions Committee in advising the UK Government.
He is an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee for the Bank of England. He was re-appointed for a second term in 2021, to finish in late August 2024.
Jonathan has sat on the editorial boards of Economic Policy, Journal of Industrial Economics and Economica. He has been a non-Executive Director of the UK Statistics Authority since February 2016.
Jonathan has co-written two books (with Stian Westlake) including Capitalism Without Capital: The Rise of the Intangible Economy and Restarting the Future: How to Fix the Intangible Economy, the former of which was acclaimed by Bill Gates.
