Jonathan Berman's Biography

Jonathan Berman is a global thought leader on emerging and frontier markets and author of the best-selling book, “Success in Africa: CEO Insights from a Continent on the Rise” (Bibliomotion, 2013).

Jonathan has over twenty years experience advising global Fortune 500 companies on entry and operations in Asia, Latin America and most recently Africa; especially focusing on the political and economic dynamics that drive shareholder value. Since 2007 Jonathan has worked as a Partner and senior advisor to Dalberg offering strategic advice on entry to new markets to clients within the oil, gas, mining, agribusiness, infrastructure, healthcare  and consumer goods, as well as governments and investors active in these sectors.

Jonathan is also an active author and commentator whose views have appeared in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, CNBC and the Harvard Business Review, where he writes a regular blog. His most recent book, “Success in Africa”, offers a grounded account of how businesses realised growth and built across the continent with insights direct from leading global CEOs.

Jonathan is a senior fellow of Columbia University’s Vale Centre – working to develop and mainstream investment for sustainable development – and a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
