Jon Moulton's Biography

Jon Moulton has long experience of turnarounds, having invested in them for 30 years and with considerable success. He is the founder and Chairman of Better Capital, the research and consultancy arm of the Better Capital Fund.

After spending several years with Citicorp Venture Capital in New York and London, Jon founded Schroder Ventures, where he also served as managing partner (1985-94). He subsequently took up the role of Director of leveraged buyouts at Apax Partners (1994-97), before founding Alchemy Partners in 1997, a UK-based private equity firm that focused on turning around troubled companies. He left the company in 2009 to found Better Capital.

He is a non-executive Chairman of FinnCap (2009-present); Chairman of the Channel Islands Stock Exchange (2013-present); and Chairman of Aurigny Group (2012-present).

A specialist in growing successful businesses and an outspoken commentator on the role business plays in economic growth, Jon was appointed to the board of the £3.1bn UK Regional Growth Fund, a fund designed to support projects and programmes that lever private sector investment to create economic growth and sustainable employment.
