Hala Gorani's Biography
Hala Gorani is an award-winning anchor and correspondent with over 25 years of experience. She has covered history-defining stories and events, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
She was most recently a primetime anchor for her show Hala Gorani Tonight on CNN and is one of the most internationally recognised names in journalism.
In her time as a CNN correspondent, Halal covered wars, revolutions, natural disasters and the elections in five different continents. She has also interviewed some of the most senior political leaders of our time. Some of her most notable interviewees include Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Dalai Lama, Tony Blair and Nicolas Sarkozy.
Gorani is a highly sought-after host and has hosted important events and large gatherings such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, the United Nations General Assembly and the Ambrosetti Forum. She has also taken on emcee roles at corporate and high-level government events around the world. With her extensive knowledge on current affairs, Hala is adept at moderating panels and have moderated panel discussions with political and business leaders. She is regarded as an expert in the media industry, human and social rights, women’s empowerment and international affairs.
Gorani is the recipient of several Emmy awards and other prestigious journalism recognitions. Some of which include the 2023 DuPont-Columbia Award for CNN’s coverage of the Ukraine War and the Association for International Broadcasting ‘Television Personality of the Year’ 2016. Hala Gorani was named one of the most powerful women by Forbes Woman Middle East in 2015.
She is currently working on her first book – a memoir that explores the subject of identity which will be published by Hachette Book Group in early spring 2024. Hala also writes magazine articles, most recently for Vogue Arabia, and is developing ideas for new television projects.
Hala Gorani currently lives in London with her husband and speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.
