Georgina Godwin's Biography
Georgina Godwin is a highly experienced moderator and interviewer. She works mainly in current affairs and literature but is also known for recording conversations with people in the creative industries (particularly authors) for a diverse range of media outlets including the BBC, Times Radio and at private corporate events, including regular slots for Pi Capital and Aquamarine Capital
She works with a range of clients but the majority of her time is with Monocle 24, the online arm of Monocle magazine. Georgina anchors “The Globalist” several times a week, a current affairs programme examining big news and business stories setting the news agenda. Anchored from London and Zürich, the show is a must-listen to source for insight and opinion on the big current affairs and business stories of the day and a review of the European front pages. Georgina is also Books Editor for the station, her interviews with authors, publishers and festival organisers are broadcast in “Meet the Writers, the flagship literary programme on Monocle 24. She also presents “Monocle Reads”, and “Monocle on Saturday” the vibrant and topical magazine and music show she hosts every Saturday. Georgina has recorded a diverse range of artists from Brian Eno, Anni-Frid Lyngstad of Abba, Stephen Frears, Dustin Lance Black and Sally Field. She has interviewed hundreds of authors across the world including James Ellroy, Ian McEwan, Arianna Huffington and Ben Okri, Markus Zuzak and most Booker Prize winners since 2014. Georgina hosts literary festivals and events around the world – including in Australia, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Sharjah, Pakistan, Mexico, Colombia, Romania, the US and Ireland. In Britain she is one of the lead chairs at both the Hay and Cheltenham Literary festivals.
She hosts podcasts events for the British Library, the British Museum, the BFI, the National Theatre, The British Council, and The California Wine Institute. She has also presented events for the Colombian Embassy, the Australian High Commission, Asia House, The Royal Africa Society, The Italian Cultural Institute, The Conduit Club, Allbright, Foyles, Waterstones, Daunt Books and many more.
Georgina was a founder member of SWRadio Africa, Zimbabwe’s first independent radio station (for which she was deemed “an enemy of the state” and banned from the country of her birth), and of the Harare International Festival of the Arts. She serves on the board of the charities English PEN and Developing Artists and is a fellow of the Gabriel Garcia Marquez Foundation.
