Eric Migicovsky's Biography
Eric Migicovsky is a Canadian-Dutch inventor, founder and startup investor.
He studied Systems and Industrial design at the University of Waterloo and TU Delft.
In 2008, he invented the smartwatch and started his first company, Pebble. After launching 3 of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, Pebble sold more than 2 million smartwatches and generated revenues of more than $200 million before it was acquired by Fitbit in 2016. Later, Eric became a partner at Y Combinator and spent 4 years investing and mentoring more than 500 early-stage startups around the world.
After YC, Eric continued building new companies, like Beeper, which is a universal chat app that lets you chat with anyone on any chat network, like Whatsapp or iMessage. In 2024, Beeper was acquired by Automattic, the makers of WordPress, for $125m.
Eric lives with his family in Palo Alto, California.
