Elroy Dimson's Biography

Professor Elroy Dimson is Chair of Endowment Asset Management at Cambridge Judge Business School. Elroy’s pioneering research, writing and consulting are on long-horizon investment and responsible investing.

He has authored several books, including ‘Triumph of the Optimists’, ‘Global Investment Returns Yearbook’ (with Paul Marsh and Mike Staunton) and ‘Financial Market History’ (with David Chambers).

Elroy chairs the Advisory and Policy Boards of FTSE Russell. Previously, he was a co-designer of the FTSE 100 index, chaired the Strategy Council for the Norwegian Government Pension Fund and was a Professor and Governor at London Business School.

He is a Fellow of CFA UK, the Institute of Actuaries, the Royal Historical Society, the Risk Institute at Ohio State University, and Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge.
