Dermot Murnaghan's Biography
Dermot Murnaghan is an acclaimed journalist and broadcaster. As the anchorman for Sky News, Dermot is a well-known face of current affairs and investigative journalism.
Dermot began his career as a journalist before moving to ITV to present the ITV World News programme. During this period he interviewed Peter Mandelson about the Geoffrey Robinson loan; the interview resulted in Mandelson’s resignation from the cabinet and Dermot received numerous awards including ‘Newscaster of the Year’. After gaining recognition as a clear and sharp presenter Dermot moved to BBC news where he was the main presenter for BBC Breakfast between 2002 and 2007.
In 2008 Dermot joined the Sky News team where he has covered the US election, the general election, the budget and interviewed both David Cameron and Gordon Brown.
As well as presenting the news, Dermot is known for his investigative reports on the economic recession and for his hard hitting weekly news programme ‘Murnaghan’ which analyses current news stories.
