Celia Francis's Biography

Celia Francis is the CEO of Rated People, the UK’s largest online marketplace for connecting homeowners with local tradespeople.

Celia is an experienced and creative leader who is passionate about creating beautiful, simple and easy-to-use consumer experiences. She has consitently brought talented people together to form exceptional teams and to learn from each other.

The US-born CEO has had a highly-decorated business career. After graduating from Harvard and gaining an MBA from MIT, Celia held senior leadership roles at several companies including AltaVista (bought out by Yahoo! in 2003) and T-Mobile. She went on from this to become CEO of WeeWorld, a social networking and gaming company. After nine years there, she joined the Board of Directors at Rated People and was appointed CEO of the company a few months later.

Rated People offers access to more than 30,000 high quality local tradesmen in the UK and represents over thirty trades including bricklayers, builders, carpenters, electricians, painters, plumbers and roofers. Homeowners can then leave ratings on these tradespeople allowing other homeowners to confidently hire a tradesman they can trust. The company is one of the fastest growing in the UK, with a compound annual growth rate of over forty percent over the last three years.
