Ash Alexander-Cooper's Biography

Ash Alexander-Cooper OBE is a former specialist military unit Colonel in the British Armed Forces, disabled veteran, world-championship athlete, award-winning international musician, business leader, mental health campaigner and an excellent speaker on resilience, peak performance and adaptability.

As a child, Ash travelled the world as a choral scholar, performing in front of millions, on television and radio as well as making multi-platinum award-winning records.

After school and university, Ash joined the Gurkhas, as a jungle warfare and airborne specialist, before becoming a counter-terrorist helicopter pilot, and subsequently a specialist military unit commander. During his 22-year military career, Ash spent almost seven years deployed on operations leading multi-national teams in some of the world’s most complex and hostile environments.

On retirement from regular service in 2016, Ash joined the Army Reserve, as well as becoming a Senior Partner at McChrystal Group. With a focus on leader development, team building, resilience, overcoming adversity, learning and mental health, Ash draws on his 25 years’ experience building, leading and managing diverse multinational government, business, sports and other elite teams to support those seeking to adapt and win in today’s increasingly complex world.

With additional experience leading international business development and strategic partnerships for an international data analytics company, and as advisor to several technology start-ups, Ash brings an unrivalled depth and breadth of experience to his talks.

As an elite athlete, Ash has represented his country in three separate sports up to World Championship level.

Wounded multiple times in combat, as a disabled veteran, Ash now works tirelessly with organisations supporting those who have risked so much in the service of their countries, at home and abroad. As well as sitting on the Board of two mental health charities, Ash has also founded The UNSUNG Foundation.

Ash is a regular contributor to international conferences, panel discussions and media content for businesses and charities. No matter the topic, Ash is an honest, authentic and engaging speaker who is able to connect with audiences on mental health, diversity, culture, leadership, resilience, adaptability, teamwork and many more. His diverse range of experiences and proven skills are sure to motivate and inspire.
