Post-Covid: Health Perspectives

As schools, bars, public areas and events begin to reopen we have to take small steps before we can relax stringent public health guidelines  Saving lives and preventing the spread of the virus is still the priority.  Also still critical is search for effective treatments and a vaccine for longer term safety and a return to normal life.  To thrive again, we need to nurture our mental well being as well as to safeguard our physical health.

In these areas, we work with policy makers, public health advisers, scientists, entrepreneurs and health reporters.   Their views and expertise has never been more important and they are willing to share these with you. We have compiled content by experts in this area, these are listed below in the order they were published.

Contributors include;

Ilaria Capua (@ilariacapua) – a virologist and seasoned pandemic expert.  She explores the nature of circular health, the interconnectedness of people, animals and plants.   At the peak of the H5N1 bird flu panzootic in 2006, she provided global leadership by igniting an international debate on the transdisciplinary sharing of influenza virus genetic sequences to improve pandemic preparedness.

Jeremy Hunt  (@Jeremy_Hunt)– former Health Minister and Foreign Minister and current Chair of the Commons Health and Social Care Select Committee in the UK parliament – he was among the first to call for a quicker response by government.

Michael Acton Smith (@acton) – Michael is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Calm, the world’s leading wellness App.  Their mission is to make the world a happier and less stressed place by bringing meditation and mindfulness to the mainstream.

Larry Brilliant  led the WHO team that eradicated Smallpox.   In recent years, he predicted a new pandemic, where “a billion people would get sick and as many as 165 million people would die”, causing a global recession and depression and an economic cost of $1 to $3 trillion.  Read his interview below in WIRED.

Alanna Shaikh  (@alanna_shaikh) is a Global  Health Consultant, her TEDs talk from early March  “Coronavirus is our future” has had more than 16 million views, over various platforms,  in less than a month.   As stated by her, a solution lies in building the global health system to support health care functions in every country in the world. 

Stephen Trzeciak and Anthony Mazzarelli share their expertise in Compassionomics, and emphasise that though humanity is facing extraordinary times that can bring out the worst in people, this is purely driven by fear. Together, they explain that the only way to get through the pandemic, is together.

Dani Gordon -(@drdanigordon) is an integrative medicine physician and world leading expert in CBD, cannabis medicine,  brain wellness & stress resilience.  She is also experienced in video telemedicine & became one of the top telemedicine physicians in Canada providing care to remote communities.

Luke O’Neill (@laoneill111) is an expert on immunology  and inflammation, he assures that Covid-19 will be beaten. The most likely effective treatments for coronaviruses are from the drugs that work on inflammatory conditions.   Luke is also keeping pace with the race for a vaccine and on the public health measures that are critical to getting through the pandemic.

Patrick Dixon  (@patrickdixon) is a physician and a vastly experienced futurist, author and business innovator.  He addresses some of the longer term trends, government policy and debt, economic growth, life-expectancy forecasts, medical research and investment strategies.

Sarah Harper  (@ProfSarahHarper) is one of the world’s leading authorities on global demographic trends and their economic, political and social impact.  She is Professor of Gerontology at the University of Oxford, Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing.



Ilaria Capua – In a fascinating article in Newsweek, Ilaria’s amazing career and life story is explored –  A Cautionary Tale of Being a Virologist During an Epidemic.


Luke O’Neill In this article Luke implores us to listen to the advice of scientific experts and he talks about the bizarre behaviour of people who attack them online and in the media.  This has resulted in a number of experts withdrawing from public view

May 11-29

Luke O’Neill  In a reassuring article in this week, the immunologist, Prof. O’Neill gives hope that Covid 19 is beatable.

Dani Gordon In recent weeks, the demand for CBT and other natural remedies to cope with stress, pain and sleep issues.  Dani is interviewed on this subject in  Forbes 

Sarah Harper  In an online article Channel 4 interviews Sarah about the age profiles most at risk from Covid 19.

April 20-24

Alanna Shaikh  featured in a live Q&A broadcast on Euronews all about Covid 19.  Also included in the Q&A session is Luke O’Neill.

Luke O’Neill   In a forthright and informative article in the Irish Independent, Luke reminds readers that it’s crucial to follow the facts and the science – sometimes that’s hard to hear for some politicians and sectors that want to speed up the return to business as usual.

April 1 – 5:

Luke O’Neill: Tuberculosis vaccine ‘potential game-changer’ in Covid-19 fight in The Irish Times. 

Ilaria Capua: Capua shares her knowledge with the country that is most effected by Covid-19 in Leaders League. 

March 16 – 29:

Larry Brilliant: Brilliant was interviewed by WIRED. Brilliant continues to emphasise on the importance of testing. Larry Brilliant and Alanna Shaikh were featured in Vanity Fair, discussing why the world didn’t listen to the Coronavirus Cassandras. 

Stephen Trzeciak and Anthony Mazzarelli : Share how we will get through the pandemic, together on Philly Voice. 

Jeremy Hunt:  Featured on BBC, DailyMail, and ITV News, Hunt continues to push for more testing for Covid-19.

Alanna Shaikh : In this TEDxSMU talk,  Shaikh firmly states that this is not the last major outbreak humanity will see. It is important to note how this affects our climate too as we try to make the world more hospitable to viruses and bacteria. 

In Medium, Alanna is asked if we could be living under Coronavirus forever ? Could We Be Living Under Coronavirus Forever?  Alanna says that “Covid-19 is our signal to fix our systems and be ready for next time, if we do it right.”

Ilaria CapuaProfessor Capua shares that “To the coronavirus, we’re just another host animal, so let’s use our intelligence” with LifeGate.
