London ranked world's best for financial services whilst Asia increases influence
According to the latest edition of the Global Financial Centres Index, London is considered to be the world’s leading place for the financial services industry to do business.
In the ranking for specific sectors, London led for asset management, wealth management, government and regulatory and professional services. New York was preferred for banking and Hong Kong was the leading city for insurance.
The survey also reflected the growing influence of Asia in the industry – Seoul gained 25 points and eight places to enter the top 20 for the first time, and there are now eight Asian cities in the top 20, up from three four years ago.
