Lewis Pugh speakerAt Chartwell we’re big fans of legendary extreme swimmer Lewis Pugh, so it was a delight to have him drop by the office earlier this week. As ever, it was riveting to hear about his grueling training and the mind-blowing projects he has in the pipeline.

A passionate campaigner for the protection of the oceans, Lewis was the first person to swim across the North Pole and is the first person to have completed a long distance swim in every ocean of the world. In 2010, the World Economic Forum named him a Young Global Leader and in 2013 the United Nations Environment Programme appointed him “Patron of the Oceans”.

Throughout his career he has put his body through unimaginably difficult conditions, and his latest book, 21 Yaks and a Speedo (2013), examines the qualities that he believes have helped him complete seemingly impossible feats.
