Joshua Davis: writer, journalist, film-maker..
Joshua Davis is an author, journalist and film-maker who has written for The New Yorker, GQ, Outside, Mens Journal, Mens Health, Maxim and Food & Wine. After sneaking into Iraq during the war in 2003 to to report for Wired magazine, he was made contributing editor.
Joshua’s writing and film work is unique, much of it is influenced by his bizarre adventures around the world. In 2002 he produced a documentary film, ‘The Beast Within’ which followed his attempt to become the lightweight arm-wrestling champion of the world. The film won Best Documentary at the 2003 Telluride Mountain Film Festival. In 2011 Warner Brothers hired Joshua to write a script about the extraordinary reconstruction after the 2007 California freeway disaster.
Joshua’s first book was published in 2005, ‘Underdog’ (Random House) chronicles his experiences in unusual competitions including the World Arm-wrestling Championship in Poland; the US Sumo Open in Los Angeles; the World Sauna Championship in Finland; and the Golden Shrimp, a backwards running competition in Italy.
