Bonnie Glaser

Introducing: Bonnie Glaser

Rafe Fletcher
editor at Chartwell Speakers

Chartwell is delighted to represent Bonnie Glaser.

Bonnie is Director of the China Power Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). CSIS is widely ranked as the US’ best think-tank for Defense and National Security. It is a bipartisan organisation, offering expert views from across the political spectrum.

In a heated political environment, Bonnie offers a balanced perspective on US-China relations and the wider political situation in the South China Sea region. She looks at how foreign policy is likely to affect companies operating in region.

Recently, she has been examining the US’ approach to China in the run-up to the November elections. Looking at the recent situation in Hong Kong, she described the Trump administration as being “on a tear” against China. The recent sanctions on local officials went beyond symbolism because of their potential ramifications for banks in Hong Kong. The hawks in the administration are firmly in control.

However, she also cautioned that a Biden victory would not soften American policy towards China. While the China-bashing rhetoric may change, she said, the broader policy agenda is backed by bipartisan support.

Bonnie can offer guidance as we look forward to the next uncertain chapter in US-China relations.
