Frank Lavin is the former US Ambassador to Singapore (2001 to 2005). In 2004, the embassy where he worked was the planned target of a Al Qaeda attack. Whilst Frank managed to escape unscathed due to a combination of meticulous planning and the sterling efforts of Singapore’s intelligence services, Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stephens was not so lucky when the US embassy in Benghazi was attacked in September last year.
