Chartwell Team visits Doddington Hall

Tilly St Aubyn
editor at Chartwell Speakers

In June 2022, the Chartwell London team visited Doddington Hall for two days of strategy, interspersed with cycling, swimming and exploring. On arrival at historic Doddington, we were greeted by our Chairman and our host, James Birch, who treated us to an incredibly spoiling few days. We started with a huge lunch in one of the three restaurants offering an array of sustainable, organic and local produce mostly produced on the land itself. Following this, we sat round to strategise on the year ahead and discuss some exciting ideas we have for Chartwell’s future around new speakers, our ever-growing client base and our working practices.

After a fruitful and productive afternoon, James took us around the estate on Doddington’s collection of electric bikes which was a first time for many of us and made for some interesting experiences! The sun shone down as James showed and talked us through the fascinating re-wilding projects they are implementing at Doddington including natural regeneration and tree-planting. Swimming for those who needed a refreshing dip succeeded this, followed later by tour of the wonderfully curated military uniform collection and a delicious dinner of homegrown Doddington produce.

After an indulgent breakfast at the bike shop and a morning walk around the walled garden, the team put their heads together once again to deliberate across the board. As always, the conversation was endless as we bounced around ideas before coming away with some promising blueprints for the future.

Filled with thoughts and aspirations, and after another delicious lunch and browse around the impressive farm shop, the Chartwell team headed back to HQ in London to put theory into practice!

Thank you for being on board with us so far and we look forward to sharing our hopes and plans for the the year to come!
