With Agricultural investment  in Africa a hot topic of the upcoming G8 summit, a variety of solutions and initiatives are now being raised to boost Agribusiness on the continent.

Ahead of the talks comes news that Howard-Yana Shapiro, the agricultural director of the $36bn US confectionery corporation, mars has sequenced and openly published the complete genome the chocolate bearing cacaro tree.  Such work is forming the backbone of future plant breeding efforts, aimed at boosting productivity of previously neglected crops, to establish a base of more resilient crops for African agriculture.
