Thor Bjorgolfsson, the self-styled “adventure capitalist” who talks about learning from failure, rejoins the “Forbes World’s Billionaires List”

In his first extensive interview since the economic meltdown, Thor Bjorgolfsson, a self-styled “adventure capitalist” and Chartwell’s latest exclusive speaker, has been interviewed by Forbes magazine following his return to the Forbes World’s Billionaires list this year.

The interview outlines Thor’s remarkable story, narrated in the Icelandic billionaire’s recently published autobiography, “Billions to Bust—and Back: How I Made, Lost and Rebuilt a Fortune, And What I Learned on the Way” (2014). It details his personal perspective of what it felt like to be in the eye of the storm of the economic meltdown. Forbes writes that “once revered as an economic Pied Piper whose bank “guaranteed” high interest rates, [Thor] became one of the most hated men in Iceland, who many blamed personally for the disaster.”

However, by 2014, through various strategic investments of his private equity fund Novator Partners LLP (the London-based alternative investment firm he founded), Thor became a billionaire once again. Now a leading speaker on the power of positive thinking and learning from failure, Forbes notes that Thor is “out restore something more valuable than his fortune: his reputation.”

Intensely proud, Thor swears billionairehood will be different the second time around. “Like an animal who learns in the jungle,” he says, “I really am trying to learn something from this.”
