Sean Parker is a self-made technology billionaire who has been behind the launch of some of the online world’s most genre-defining companies and market-disrupting products. A legend of Silicon Valley, Sean is a tireless innovator in changing the online spread of information.
Dubbed by Forbes an “Agent of disruption”, Sean has consistently upended markets the world over. In 1999 at the age 19 he founded Napster, the music sharing site credited with upending the entire recording industry and hailed as the fastest growing net application in web history. It is considered by some to be a precursor to iTunes.
From 2004 he became the founding president of Facebook, credited with engineering its corporate structure and introducing the fledgling company to Silicon Valley. In 2006 he became partner of the influential San Francisco venture capital firm Founders Fund.
Since 2007 he turned his attention back to music, becoming a board member of the streaming service Spotify and assisting its expansion into the US market. He is also currently executive chairman and CEO of the sharing and commutation site Airtime and philanthropic web network Causes.
Sean is the host of the annual TechFellow Awards (in partnership with TechCrunch and The Founders fund) which gives 20 entrepreneurs $100,000 each to invest in start-ups.
