Rupert Hoogewerf is the founder and compiler of the renowned Hurun China Rich List, now in its ninth straight year. Curious to know who was behind China’s fast-growing private sector, Rupert founded the China Rich List in 1999 with two students from Shanghai’s Donghua University, publishing the first four years in Forbes magazine. In 2004, Rupert was named one of the 100 Top Influencers in China’s Globalisation by Global Entrepreneur magazine. In 2005, China Entrepreneur magazine named the Hurun Report China Rich List one of the ten most important business events of the past twenty years.
In recognition of his contribution to the understanding of wealth creation in China, Rupert was awarded the prestigious “2002 Person of the Year” award by New Weekly magazine.
