John Ryan is a Brexit and Eurozone expert with policy experience in international, public and private sectors and regular speaker at conferences and seminars where his ability to explain the complex relationship between Germany, the Eurozone and international markets is highly valued by business leaders, as well as universities and the media. He is a political economist with extensive business, policy and academic experience and has recently given key-note addresses to high-level audiences, headlining at events run by the Mannheim Center for European Economic Research (ZEW), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, KPMG and Standard Chartered, the Institute of Directors, Handelsblatt, the Ifo Institute for Economic Research, Munich, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the LSE India Observatory & Asia Research Centre.
John has organised and chaired many conferences and workshops, often on complex economic and financial issues; such as the Eurozone crisis (The Euro crisis: Towards a Fiscal and Political Union?) together with a workshop (Understanding Germany’s role in the Euro crisis) sponsored by the LSE and the European Commission in London. He has also chaired a high level international conference (Capital Markets Union simulation), with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, KPMG and Standard Chartered and an expert workshop (The Emergence of a Multipolar Currency Regime) with LSE Ideas, Standard Chartered and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. John is currently organising an international workshop and public lecture series on Hard Brexit, Soft Brexit or No Brexit?.
As well as this, John is also an expert on Euro clearing and a member of the International Bankers Livery Committee as well as the Editorial Board. John has appeared as a regular commentator on UK, European and Global economic affairs for Sky News, BBC World, BBC News 24, RTE Ireland, Newsweek, Les Echos, Handelsblatt, Bloomberg News, Al Jazeera and Russia Today amongst others.
