Hadeel Ibrahim is the founding Executive Director and Director of Strategy and External Relations of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which was established in 2006 to support great African leadership. The Foundation works to stimulate debate on good governance across sub-Saharan Africa and the world. It publishes the Ibrahim Index of African Governance, which aims to be Africa’s leading assessment of governance, informing and empowering citizens, civil society, parliaments and governments to measure progress.
The Foundation also established the Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership, which is awarded to a former Executive Head of State or Government by a Prize Committee composed of eminent figures, including three Nobel Laureates.
Hadeel is also a member of the Boards of the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice (MRFCJ), Carter Center UK, Refugees International and the Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development (UONGOZI Institute) in Tanzania.
She is also a Patron of Restless Development, a youth-led development agency. She previously spent time with the Africa Section of Actis Private Equity Investors and with EMP Africa.
