Greg Searle's Biography
Greg Searle is one of Britain’s greatest rowers. He won Gold in the Coxed Pairs at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and, after a 9 year retirement, he returned to the sport to compete at London 2012 and make a bid to become the first man to win Gold twice with a 20 year gap in between. He ended up winning a phenomenal Bronze with the men’s eight, at the age of 40.
During his 9 year break from the sport, Greg worked as a consultant at Lane 4 Management, working with senior management at blue chip companies on goal setting, corporate workshops, facilitating meetings and as an accredited executive coach. But whilst working for FISA at the 2009 Rowing World Championships in Poznan, Poland, he began to feel the urge to be back in a boat and be part of London 2012 – a home Games, the dream of every athlete. He worked hard to regain his fitness and squared up to men half his age to win a place in the men’s eight. As part of this squad he went on to win two world silver medals in 2010 and 2011.
In addition to these accolades, Greg had previously won Olympic Bronze in 1996 and 5 World Rowing Championship Medals.
