Gavin Patterson is a British businessman and marketer. The former Chief Executive of BT Group Plc, Gavin was previously Head of Marketing for Proctor & Gamble during a nine year tenure, before going to Telewest as managing director of the consumer division.
Joining BT in 2004, Gavin was appointed to the Board in June 2008 as CEO, BT Consumer (BT Retail) and became Chief Executive in September 2013. He was also Chairman of the Executive and Technology Committees and a member of the Committee for Sustainable & Responsible Business.
He is a fellow of the Marketing Society and a member of the Thirty Club for advertising professionals. He was appointed president of the Advertising Association in 2011. He is a non-executive director of British Airways, a trustee of the British Museum, and is on the board of Cambridge Judge Business School. In October 2017, he joined the first Business Against Slavery Forum hosted by the Home Office.
