Cecil Martin's Biography
Cecil Martin is a former American Football Professional Athlete in the National Football League (NFL). Cecil spent 5 years in the NFL playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He regularly appears on Sky Sports as a studio analyst for their NFL programming.
As a starter with the Eagles, Cecil helped lead the team to 3 NFC East Championships and 3 play-off berths. While in the NFL Cecil was twice named an NFL Unsung Hero and earned the NFL Ed Block Courage Award, both for community service and leadership.
Since leaving the NFL Cecil has held positions as Vice President of Guggenheim Partners Global Wealth Management division, worked at Oppenheimer and Company Investments, and Ocean Tomo, an Intellectual Capital Merchant Banc. Cecil’s interest in the markets and business entrepreneurship began in High School when his coach, then a trader, exposed him to the Mercantile Exchange in Chicago. This continued at the University of Wisconsin-Madison interning at Merrill Lynch for 2 summers. These experiences, as well as others in real estate investment, real estate finance, sales and marketing, has helped shape Cecil as a business leader and develop his speaking expertise and voice to professionals of all types.
Currently, Cecil speaks on a range of topics ranging from recruiting education for student athletes on the recruiting process, leadership and team building for corporations and small businesses, keynote addresses for organisations of any type, as well as Master of Ceremony duties at events of all kinds. As a result of his commitment to giving back, in 2013 he was also made an Ambassador of the Mayor of London’s Mentoring Advisory Board to help give opportunities to London’s youth.
