Chief Science Officer, SENS Research Foundation (2009-present)
Famous for claiming that ageing is a curable disease
Author of controversial, internationally best-selling books on life extension
Dr. Aubrey de Grey is a controversial scientist, prominent for claiming that human beings will eventually eradicate ageing. He is currently serving as Chief Science Officer of SENS Research Foundation, a public charity that is transforming the way the world researches and treats age-related disease.
A biomedical gerontologist, Aubrey is the author of the international best-seller “Ending Ageing” (St. Martin’s Griffin, 2008). Here, he argues that physical deterioration as a result of ageing is a disease like any other, and that the fundamental knowledge needed to develop effective anti-ageing medicine already exists. Aubrey writes, researches and speaks worldwide on the subject, whilst working to identify and promote specific technological approaches to the reversal of the various aspects of ageing.
He is also Editor-in-Chief of Rejuvenation Research, fellow of both the Gerontological Society of America and the Institute for Ethics in Emerging Technologies, and advisor to the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
