Harper Reed speaks about working as a team and encouraging innovation

Great chatting with Harper Reed yesterday. One of the things that Harper likes talking about, and learnt a lot about on the Obama2012 campaign, is how to work effectively as a team, and create an environment that encourages innovation and the right sort of risk taking. He recommends Team Geeks: A Software Developer’s Guide to Working With Others as good reading on the subject. Here’s more from the book: “Writing software is a team sport, and human factors have as much influence on the outcome as technical factors. Even if you’ve spent decades learning the technical side of programming, this book teaches you about the often-overlooked human component. By learning to collaborate and invest in the “soft skills” of software engineering, you can have a much greater impact for the same amount of effort.”
