Geronologist and expert on population ageing Professor Sarah Harper advises House of Lords

Professor Sarah Harper, Director of Oxford University’s Institute of Population Ageing and a global thought leader on causes and consequences of the ageing of the world’s population, has been advising a House of Lords Committee investigation into the implications for the UK of population ageing. According to a report in The Guardian, Sarah Harper told the peers “there were about 8 million people in the UK who would be expected to live to at least 100, and some experts believe at least 50% of children born since 2007 will live until 103. The Chair of the Committee has already warned “that the NHS, social care, public spending and the rest of society face dramatic change as a result.”
